The Second Day

Raytheon Killer Bee

F18 on display
Today was another densely-packed outing which served to be an incredible experience. At 6:45 both our TARC team and the UKAYRoC team boarded the vans and were whisked to the Paris Air Show. The first stop was the Raytheon Chalet where we had a wonderful breakfast. We then visited the Raytheon booth and saw firsthand several of their cutting-edge products used by armed forces.
Another highlight was the CNES booth were we saw a lecture on the planets in our solar system presented on a spherical screen which could serve as a model for any of the planets.
After lunch at the Raytheon chalet we were able to tour all of the aircraft and tactical systems brought to the show by the US DOD and saw several incredible aircraft flight demonstrations including the Dasult Rafael, the Eurofighter Typhoon , the Airbus A380 and the Lockheed F16.
After the Air Show we traveled back to the city and the two teams enjoyed dinner together. We then had some free time to walk around Paris at night, which is simply gorgeous.

The Louvre at Night
I love the picture of the Louvre with the Pyramid. You’ll have to tell us about the lighting in this picture. What a contrast to the equally fascinating “bee” from the Paris Air Show!

Thanks for the update. What an exciting experience both culturally and scientifically. The Killer Bee picture is an antithesis of the Louvre at night, wow. Your days are jam packed, I hope you will have time for reflection when you get home. It would be fun to foresee how this trip inflluences your future paths. Enjoy!

This blog is an excellent idea! I can imagine how much self-discipline it takes to post an update after a day full of sights an events (that’s why you won’t ever see me blogging from travels
).
Great pictures too (isn’t photographie numérique even better than the proverbial sliced bread?)
I hope you are successfully coping with the jetlag (the eastbound one is the tougher of two), but I guess all the sights in Paris will keep you awake (it’s not as exquisite as Prague, of course, but close
).
Anyway, enjoy the rest of your trip. I’ll be looking forward to another blog-update and certainly the complete-to-the-last-detail personal report after you cross the pond again.

Just a mini-note from proud grandparents – “Etes vous parlez Francais, Jacqui?” “Un peu?” Maybe we can’t bring up our high school learning, but we’ll look forward to your mind-boggling stories next month, Jacqui.

Enjoyed your blog. Am impressed that you have been able to blog at all given your schedule and the brief time that you are in Paris. Look forward to you reflections once you are back in Madison.
